START DATE: April 2022

SALARY RANGE: $65,000-70,000

Position Summary

The Production Manager, in close coordination with the Director of Production, is primarily responsible for the production management of CPIP’s mainstage season and Education and Engagement Department productions. This is a newly formed role for the department and organization, with intent to expand the ability to successfully plan and oversee a robust season in multiple venues, including a brand new proscenium theater opening in March 2023.


Essential Duties

  • ​Schedule and lead regular Design and Production meetings with staff and creative teams, as well as post mortem discussions with CPIP staff.

  • Provide clear communication to both internal and external constituencies.

  • Create and update Tech and Production schedules.

  • Manage the flow of information through SharePoint and coordinate access to sites and documents for staff and creative teams.

  • Collaborate on Travel/Housing for visiting designers with the Company Management Dept.

  • Organize, manage, and schedule on site design meetings and designer visits.

  • Hire and coordinate onboarding over-hire, non-union Run Crew.

  • Manage, plan, schedule, and lead all production meetings in association with the Education and Engagement Dept. This includes a three show touring season as well as events and productions under the Off the Grid program.

  • Manage production budgets including expense tracking, invoice processing and finalization of general ledger accounts.

  • Manage and supervise part time Assistant Production Manager.

  • Cultivate and promote a safe working environment and ensure that all production and technical departments operate in accordance with current health and safety regulations and best theater practice.

  • Actively participate in fostering a work environment centering the core values of Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park.


Abilities and Attributes:

  • Self-motivated and detail oriented with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Proficient with Office 365 computer programs and on-line meeting platforms such as Zoom.

  • Good time management and problem solving skills, and the ability to delegate when needed.

  • Ability to work both independently and as a team within both the Production Department and the Staff as a whole.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities as well as attend to numerous projects concurrently.

  • Willing and able to work flexible hours/days reflective of a production schedule of a theater which includes a variety of hours including evenings and weekends.

  • Ability to craft, manage, and oversee budgets.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Training and experience serving in a management role in a production department at a theater, live event venue, or a related field.

  • Enjoy creating and implementing new processes and working across departments.

  • Experience in handling production and design processes on large scale productions.

  • Knowledge of SharePoint, Propared, CAD programs, and Adobe PDF suite.

  • Background in basic safety training, and safety specific to theatrical systems.
